My wednesday was pretty normal to start with but in the afternoon I had organised a canapé and mocktail reception for all staff. I was only notified of this event on friday afternoon and didn’t think it was possible to find a halal catering company in such short notice, but my lovely colleague Gemma knew of someone she’d used earlier. Ginger Jar Food is a boutique catering company based in London and their head chef, Jenny McNeill, started the company in 2009. We sent a few emails back and forth and they were happy to help.
Because we didn’t have time to arrange a tasting session I was quite nervous about the food. I’m a perfectionist and this was the first event I organised on my own, and so I simply wanted it to be awesome.
They sent 3 staff members; Ross who acted as front of house manager and made sure everything ran smoothly, with 2 waitresses that were lovely.
I chose 5 canapés: Satay chicken skewer with tamarind and peanut sauce, Greek lamb sausage roll with green olive tapenade and oregano, Goats Cheese, mi cuit tomato and basil frittata with roast garlic aioli (my favourite!), Volcano sushi roll with sashimi grade salmon with spicy mayo and cucumber and lastly crab and apple salad pot with lime pearls and micro coriander.
For the mocktail I chose the Virgin Sea Breeze. Grapefruit, cranberry juice and fresh lime. Super nice!
We were super thrilled with the event and can’t thank them enough for helping us out on such short notice.
The food was super yummy and I can’t wait to try out more, because we will definitely use them again if I’m in charge!
Ginger Jar do supper clubs, weddings and all kinds of catering.
