On friday Nigel mentioned that Flat Iron was opening a new restaurant in Shoreditch and I immediately answered “I STILL HAVEN’T BEEN” and he said “tomorrow?” Haha! Said and done, Saturday evening me, my bestie Eva and Nigel met in Soho and walked down to Covent Garden, only to be turned away at the door. 1,5 hour wait. “Is it worth it?” I asked them both. “Yes!”, they said. So we decided to walk down towards strand and found a small Italian restaurant and had anti pesto and wine. Attempt 1. Attempt 2! Yay!
Flat Iron has 3 restaurants so far. Two in Soho and one in Covent Garden with the fourth one opening this summer in Shoreditch. They don’t believe in reservations so be prepared to queue! The website doesn’t say much (basically nothing) but the reviews says it all. 4.5 to 5 stars absolutely everywhere, and I see why. The service is friendly, they play good music, food is absolutely amazing and their cutlery is super cool (I think of the small details).
You get popcorn as a little starter 🙂 Plum & Aperol Spritz, super yum. Flat Iron steak with creamed spinach, chips, bearnaise sauce, aubergine and salad. Heaven. / See that knife? So cool. When you ask for the bill you get a receipt which you can trade for a free ice cream! Salt caramel dipped in chocolate.
