Room service and goodbyes

04/10/2016

My last day in NYC was an even more emotional one than the night before. We both woke up slightly hungover and room service came to drop off our breakfast we had cleverly ordered whilst drunk. Eggs florentine and tater tots.
dsc06664-copy dsc06665-copyAfter having breakfast and getting ready I met up with Daniel, a friend from London living in New York for lunch and when I came back I packed my things and got ready to say goodbye to Katie.
Saying goodbye to Katie was probably one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done in my adult life. I’m getting tears in my eyes as I’m writing this as well. Crap. Can’t see the screen with tears in my eyes.
We said goodbye and I got a cab to Brooklyn where I picked up the rest of my stuff and said goodbye to Ariel.
At the airport I see that Katie has posted a new photo on instagram with the caption:

Had to say goodbye to my friend Noelle as she returns to her life in London, and it wasn’t easy. I met this Swede 6 years ago while studying abroad and haven’t seen her since. Fast forward to our trip in NYC and we’ve completely reconnected and strengthened our bond in such a way that it seems like no time has passed! We talked about friendship and feminism over Indian takeout with our gracious host (and my BFF) @starkstyle22. We swapped English and American slang words and occasionally exchanged accents, too. We sweat our asses off while touring every corner of the city, and then danced our asses off to groovy R&B music until 4 am. We shared many laughs as well as advice in regards to our personal struggles. I feel so lucky to have met such a beautiful person inside & out. Until next time —@blogbynoelle! You will always have a home here in America.

Well it is very to safe to say that I cried rivers reading that. I literally sat at the airport, sushi in my lap, crying.
I still can’t believe the connection we built over 10 days after having not seen each other for 6 years? We had so many deep and great discussions and what’s beautiful is that I we didn’t run out of things to talk about. Even my good friend Tom said he was surprised we weren’t tired of eachother after spending so much time together.

Katie, you are a wonderful human being and I am so thankful that you took the time off to spend it with me. It hurts my soul to think about the distance between us but thanks to wifi and mobile devices we can stay in touch and still speak regularly.
Both you and Ariel made this holiday so flippin’ amazing and I can’t wait to see you guys again – hopefully as soon as early next year!

Our last dinner / Mezetto

02/10/2016

Oh god, I didn’t want this day to end. The day before I had to leave NYC and my beautiful amazingly loving friends. We decided to keep things local so walked – literally – across the road from Sixty Hotel to Mezetto, a mediterranean restaurant.
There we opted for their set menu which included starter, main and dessert and to top it off we added bottomless Sangria! dsc06643-copy dsc06645-copy Burrata, deliciousdsc06647-copy Kofte Kebab Meatballs, deliciousdsc06649-copy dsc06651-copy Such a strong team!dsc06653-copy Crusted Chicken with sweet potato pureedsc06655-copy Gnocchi with mushroomsdsc06657-copy🙂dsc06660-copy Halva parfait and mini baklava donuts, super delicious!dsc06661-copyWe had such an amazing last dinner and got pretty tipsy on the sangria. Mezetto was such a nice restaurant and the service was so personable and GOOD (for once!), thank you for making my last evening so memorable.
After dinner we had a cocktail at the hotel rooftop and had a semi-early night. Once in bed I got so emotional that I started crying. Out of nowhere tears were streaming down my face and I didn’t know how to stop it. These girls made me feel so loved and cared for in a quite foreign way to me. They took down walls I normally like having up and after being hurt several times over the last month it was refreshing to say the least, to have such wonderful people around me.. hence the tears. Love you both Ariel and Katie! X

Jack’s Wife Freda

02/10/2016

Sandra (fave blogger) had been there, several of Katie’s friends had been there – we just had to try it out no matter how over hyped it might’ve been! I’m talking about Jack’s Wife Freda. On my last full day in NYC we walked through Lower East Side to Jack’s. We managed to get a table fairly quickly and decided to order things we normally wouldn’t. I spotted a pimm’s bottle so Katie ordered herself a pimm’s (it wasn’t as good as “normal” pimm’s here in London, sorry!) and I got a lemonade. dsc06595-copy dsc06596-copy dsc06597-copy Little Italydsc06598-copy La Esquina was neighbour with Jack’sdsc06600-copy And here it was!dsc06602-copy dsc06607-copy dsc06621-copyBusy busy!dsc06608-copy The cutest sugar packetsdsc06610-copy dsc06612-copy Heaven!!dsc06614-copy Green Shakshuka – 2 baked eggs in a green shakshuka served with challah toastdsc06615-copy Waffles <3dsc06616-copy Madame Freda – Pressed sandwich with duck prosciutto, cheddar béchamel, gruyere & a sunny side up egg dsc06620-copyMy brunch partner <3
We both really enjoyed the food and I most definitely understand the hype about the place. It’s buzzing with beautiful cool people, the food is good and service above average, which is a good thing!

Liquor Bar Brunch and Broadway!

02/10/2016

After checking in to Sixty Hotel we had brunch at Schillers Liquor Bar nearby. I had a lovely salmon bagel and Katie had a classic avocado on toast. We were both very impressed by Lower East Side and its many options for food and shopping!dsc06554-copy dsc06555-copy dsc06556-copy dsc06557-copy dsc06558-copy dsc06560-copyAfter our brunch we walked all the way to Lower Manhattan – trust me it’s far! Our destination was TKTS – a shop where you can buy discounted last minute tickets to broadway musical and theatres.dsc06565-copy dsc06566-copyWe managed to find it and as a bye-present to me Katie got us tickets to see The Phantom of The Opera!!!! Arrghhh I was so excited! We eventually took a cab back to ours and got ready for the evening. dsc06589EEEKK!!Wine in sippy cups 🙂dsc06581The chandelier! If you’ve seen the movie or musical you know how important it is..I could obviously not take any pictures during the musical but oh my god what an incredible performance! I had goosebumps throughout the entire musical and absolutely loved it.
Afterwards we walked over to Times Square so I could see it during night time..dsc06583dsc06586We weren’t the only ones with that idea, haha!

Sixty Hotel Lower East Side

02/10/2016

My girl Katie booked this amazing hotel to finish her NYC trip with a bang and I was invited to stay for my last two nights – lucky girl or what?!
The room was equipped with two double beds, tv, massive shower, wardrobe and everything else you might need but the best part was probably the pool! Let’s have a little look.dsc06634-copydsc06636-copydsc06567-copy dsc06570-copydsc06592-copydsc06573-copy dsc06576-copy Didn’t I say it was amazing? The pool is probably the most instagram-friendly pool of all time, haha. I’ll be back, Sixty Hotel!
