I am a bit of a shopaholic and instead of buying expensive clothes and shoes I am now buying nail polishes… As I wrote in my previous nail post, I’m quite obsessed with my nails. Better that than expensive designer bags? I think so. Spring is upon us so I decided to order a few new bright colours (read: some pinks and nudes). This is a lovely dusty pink that gives just the right amount of colour without being too boring.

How many coats of polish? Two.
I get quite a lot of comments on my nails. People seem to assume I’m one of those who visit the nail salon on the regular and get them done, but oh no. I do them myself. They’re in a almond shape, semi-long and strong. Always in a nude, pastel or dark colour. The only colour I don’t wear is red. After I quit my cabin crew job I stopped wearing red nail polish as that was one of the few allowed colours.
I take good care of them and give myself a little manicure nearly weekly, and this is how.
- Nail file
- Nail buffer. My one is from Leighton Denny
- Base coat
- Nail polish
- Optional: Top coat
Base coat from Sephora (3 in 1 strengthening nail care), nail polish from my favourite brand Barry M, Seche Vite top coat
Start by removing any old polish with a acetone free nail polish remover – it’s less harsh on the skin and nails Next, file into desired shape and buff buff buff till they are smooth and add a layer of base coat
Paint with two to three layers with your polish. This one is called Eat My Dust (light blue), haha. Lastly, if I don’t have much time or feel a bit impatient I add a layer of Seche Vite, which makes them dry so much quicker.
This little manicure of mine usually last for about a week, sometimes longer!
