A meaty dinner at Fogo de Chão

We arrived in Rio on a Monday afternoon and went straight to our hotel (which I will show you soon, promise). It got dark pretty quickly and as we were still new to the city and area we didn’t want to walk around just yet. A friend of mine had recommended the restaurant Fogo de Chão a while back and so we decided to go there for dinner.
We got ready in our amazing suite and I dressed up for the occasion, heels and all.

(wearing all missguided, heels from New Look)
Sneak peek of our suite.. *eyes emoji*

The restaurant was HUGE

We got a seat without reservation (low tourist season and also a Monday) and were given pao de queijo (cheese bread) and polenta fries

On to the buffet.. omg

This was not even half of it.. insane

My first plate..

I never know what to eat so I take a little bit of everything. Lots of veggies, potatoes, feijoada (bean stew) and more veggies

Lot’s of meat. The waiters comes around with lots of various cuts of meat on a sword (no joke). The green thing you see under the plate means it’s a “go” for meat. The other side is red and means “no more”. The cow shaped paper has all the various cuts shown with description – quite handy!

We had two plates of food each and even though we were super full I had to try the classic pudim (pudding). Super yum. Can’t remember what G had but it wasn’t as good in my opinion 😉

Don’t know how I was standing after all that food

Pretty terrace

Beautiful view.

Review? We really liked the restaurant. After spending another 6 days in Rio we learnt that it was pretty overpriced but you definitely pay for the experience. The service was amazing, pretty interior, amazing food – Those are things I’ll happily pay more for every now and again!

Random pictures from our last days in Mineiros

Back to Brazil!
During our last couple of days we didn’t do much except eat and spend time with family. Here’s a few random snaps!

Food. Always food. Above is the best meat I’ve ever had. Yum.

Pool vibes.

Some kind of super sweet sweetcorn dessert, delicious but oh so sweet.

Played around by the pool with G behind the camera

Tried sugarcane juice for the first time. It tastes like.. sugar.

This is where we walked to get those pictures in my previous post

Showed grandmother how to use snapchat..

Attempted to nap

Spent time with these two <3

Did some more posing by the pool

My fave shot, haha.

Had lots and lots of ice cream

And obviously more food, here at a buffet restaurant in Mineiros. Delicious.

Travelling to Goiânia and dinner with family

After one day in Sao Paulo we took a domestic flight to Goiânia, where some of G’s cousins live.

Leather jacket from All Saints, calvin tee, leggings from Fabletics, vans and Herschel backpack.
All ready to go with my Antler suitcase! The best suitcase of all time.

Quick snack at the airport. Pao de queijo (cheese bread) was our go to snack during our entire trip..

He obviously fell asleep as soon as we took off.
And an hour later we landed!

His cousins live in a super lovely apartment on the 26th floor with this view:

After we settled in we went out for dinner with the entire group of cousins and friends.
Me and G decided to order our first Caipirinha, which is Brazil’s national cocktail.

We then ordered garlic prawns (I was starving but I just couldn’t have a big meal) and oh my days, these prawns were something else! Super delicious.

The boys shared two of these.. beef absolutely covered in tomato sauce and a thick layer of cheese. I was speechless when that came in, haha. Looks healthy, no?

I had asked for a small side salad as well as it was something I was craving.. and this arrived?!

A massive bowl of veggies!

Family and friends!

We left feeling very satisfied, to say the least.

24 hours in São Paulo

We had one day in São Paulo before we had to take another flight to Goiânia so we decided to explore the area around where we stayed.

The city has a mix of beautiful old buildings and already run down newer ones.

Inside this beautiful building we found a Calvin Klein outlet and I couldn’t not buy myself some new underwear!

Next to where we stayed was this super cool vintage shop called Gato Bravo.

I tried on this beautiful sequin dress that must’ve been from the early 90’s. Super heavy, super tight, and just.. man. Wished I bought it (not that I would have any kind of event to wear it to, but still!).

That denim jacket was for rent only. Sigh.
Across the road was another cool shop called Calligraphia.

They sold the most random stuff in there – from pens to lights to plates to carousels.

The street.

In the evening we popped next door to Famiglia Mancini, a family run restaurant that opened in 1980.
After a little more research I’ve found out that it is one of the best Italian restaurants in São Paulo!

We had a wonderful pasta filled with ricotta and meatballs with tomato sauce. Their pasta comes in dishes served for two which we both thought was great – less waste for the world!

Tired face

We shared a bottle of wine and discussed our future amongst other things

We had a relaxed first day in Brazil and the highlight was probably the pasta (y’all know me!).

Giant Robot – A new addition to Streetfeast

Streetfeast has opened yet another eating and drinking rooftopia, as they call it, in Canary Wharf! Me and Emelie decided to check it out on thursday and invited a couple of friends to share the experience with us (none ended up in pictures, we were too busy eating)

I love the walk around West India Quay.

Giant Robot looks like this from the outside:

Pretty crazy, right?
When we arrived we went straight to the bar.

And then checked out the various food spots – there wasn’t many I must say!

Since we’re all foodies we tried it all. First up was Yum Bun.
My fave was the bun with pork and hoi sin sauce.

Next up was Bob’s. We got a salmon and tuna thing which was interesting. Think I need to give their lobster roll a go!

Moving on to Thunderbird and chicken. This was a bit of a disappointment at first as they were out of absolutely everything except bbq wings and normal fries. On top of that, we got the wrong order. Not a good start Thunderbird.
When we did get the correct order we got an extra box of wings which was highly appreciated! Very sticky, very yummy.

And lastly as dessert Maria ordered the Cinnamon bun filled with ice cream, caramel and apple sauce. Delicious!

My overall impression? A good space to hang out and grab a snack and drink, but don’t expect too much of the food. There are only about 5 food stalls in total (we were all expecting more) so it’s kind of limited. Plenty of seats, free cloakroom and a dj playing some really good tunes.
