Casa Mosquito – A beautiful boutique hotel in Ipanema, Rio De Janeiro

31/05/2017

Casa Mosquito. I don’t even know where to begin! When we arrived it was dark and me being the strong female I am let G and one of the guys who worked there carry our suitcases up all of the stairs below. About the hotel. Casa Mosquito is a boutique hotel in Ipanema, Rio De Janeiro. It is a refurbished 1940’s home that the french owners, Benjamin and Louis opened in 2012. It has 9 rooms (suites..), a beautiful lounge…

A meaty dinner at Fogo de Chão

24/05/2017

We arrived in Rio on a Monday afternoon and went straight to our hotel (which I will show you soon, promise). It got dark pretty quickly and as we were still new to the city and area we didn’t want to walk around just yet. A friend of mine had recommended the restaurant Fogo de Chão a while back and so we decided to go there for dinner. We got ready in our amazing suite and I dressed up for the…

Family

23/05/2017

Parts of his wonderful family.  I’m from a pretty “cold” country where physical affection is, in my opinion, limited.. even from family members. To then visit a family like his, where I was flooded with kisses and hugs as soon as we met, was wonderful but new. Every single time someone entered the house or left, they’d kiss and hug, and you could see that it wasn’t by force. It was the most natural thing in the world and it…

Feeling low

21/05/2017

I’ve been feeling really really low lately. Like really low. I think it started with us returning from Brazil, cause who wouldn’t be miserable coming back to a grey, cold and rainy London? It then continues with a lot of negativity at work. Negativity and stress I thought I handled well but my mind clearly wanted to spend more time on. I had the BEST weekend with Mikaela but that felt like an escape. A fun one. On top of…

Random pictures from our last days in Mineiros

18/05/2017

Back to Brazil! During our last couple of days we didn’t do much except eat and spend time with family. Here’s a few random snaps! Food. Always food. Above is the best meat I’ve ever had. Yum. Pool vibes. Some kind of super sweet sweetcorn dessert, delicious but oh so sweet. Played around by the pool with G behind the camera Tried sugarcane juice for the first time. It tastes like.. sugar. This is where we walked to get those…

Noelle and Mikaela’s day of fun!

17/05/2017

If you didn’t get the Friends reference we’re not friends. As previous post stated, we had the best weekend! After checking in to our hotel room and eating marshmallows dipped in chocolate we got ready and decided to explore Canary Wharf. I live in the area but Mikaela is still a newbie so I took her to Crossrail Place to grab lunch.     Ramen soup at Ippudo, nom nom Super delicious! We then popped upstairs to one of my favourite…

A different view | Novotel Canary Wharf

16/05/2017

My weekend was seriously amazing. Not only did I get to explore a brand new hotel and eat good food, but I got to share the experience with Mikaela, my bestie! I was invited to stay at Novotel in Canary Wharf on Saturday and we checked in around 1pm. Here’s a little tour of the room! (I had to split the posts in two as we were very snappy!) The bedroom Bathroom with little to none privacy (or so we…

A half day in Mineiros

15/05/2017

Our days in Mineiros would start with a breakfast around 7am. Why so early? Well it’s only a 4 hour time difference but it was quite nice going to bed early and wake up early (grannies). After breakfast we’d spend time with family and chat before it was time for lunch. I had made a list of various foods I wanted to try and today they had made one of those dishes! The yellow dish below is Moqueca de camarão.…

House and ground tour

15/05/2017

These Brazil posts will be published a bit sporadically as I am still finding my feet after our holiday. I’ve struggled getting back into a good routine and it annoys me massively, but hey ho. Here’s a little tour of G’s grandparents house which I absolutely fell in love with. Wild parrots. Can’t believe how excited I was to see wild parrots! Many breakfasts served here 🙂 Avocado trees!!! More cute birds. This one lived inside the tree. Had to…
