Best of budget

My brain is slowly entering holiday-mode and so all I can think about is loose, flowy, spring/summer garments. Lately I have found a new love for off the shoulder cuts, it makes such big difference to an outfit, don’t you think?!

French toast bake with berries / Brunch recipe

I’m not going to lie, I am a complete Pinterest addict and my dessert board is getting out of hand. The other week I found this recipe and ohmygod! It’s basically like a bread and butter pudding/french toast with berries and cream cheese and yuuuum everything I love in one simple dish. Now, I never follow recipes but I used lifemadesweeter recipe as a guide.

Indulge with LOTS of canadian maple syrup and extra berries

Prep: 20 min
Cook: 55 min
Servings: It says 8-10 but… let’s be honest. 2. Max 3.

  • 1 large loaf of white bread
  • 1 pack of cream cheese
  • 1½ cup fresh raspberries and blackberrier
  • 9 large eggs
  • 1¾ cups milk of your choice.. I used half milk half single cream
  • Lots of ground cinnamon. The more the merrier!
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

This is my speedy version:
Grease a pan, cut the bread into cubes and start layer the pan with bread, berries and cream cheese. In a large bowl, whisk together egg, milk (and cream) and vanilla extract. Pour evenly over the bread cubes, add some more berries and let it rest for a bit so the bread absorbs the mixture. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake covered with foil for about 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 25 minutes until golden and beautiful.

Tailor made / Inspiration

I am soon going on holiday to Vietnam and I couldn’t be more excited to go back and visit family, eat fantastic street food, sight see and relax in the sun and warmth. Another thing I am doing, is getting a coat and cape made. Fortunately my mother has a relative who’s an amazing tailor – his dad was the main tailor to a previous President and minister in Vietnam, so let’s just say he’s well trained! My inspiration for the coat and cape are these images found on pinterest.

A single breasted black coat with hidden pockets and a super simple cape with just a buckle or button to fasten it.

I will keep you posted on the process. So excited!
